Am I Tricking Google Adsense? No I Think It Knows
Posted by chris.whiteley on May 30, 2008
So how am I tricking Google Adsense? Well for one thing, I think that it knows that I hate it. So I guess that I am not fooling anyone into thinking the I am tricking Google Adsense into thinking that I like it.
But I don’t think it cares.
Ok at this point I am not really making any sense, so before I ramble on any more I would like to share some ‘Google can lick my pouch’ kind of information:
When I started this blog I had the intention of actually making money from Google Adsense, and throughout my journey my journey I have gone from hating, to loving to hating again. I think right now I may be in a forgiveness mode.
Well let me check my stats and we shall see…
Nope, nothing. We are in hate mode.
The main goal of this post was to share how things have been since day one of Adsense blogging. I am excited to share that I have in fact received my first cheque

As you can see it is for $122.72. I started blogging on Decemeber 10th 2007 so I think that works out to about $0.92 cents per day, which I guess for Google Adsense it is good, but really can someone live off of that amount…no, That is why I went out and got a cruddy job.
I think the other reason why I personally believe that Google Adsense is crap is that in the month of April I made $255.42 from ClickBank on my blog topwarcraftguides.com. I think this is the main reason why I took the blogging hiatus over the last month. SO I think I will focus more on Clickbank than Adsense. At least until something better comes along.
George Lucas Teaches Me A Lesson About Blogging [but nothing about Google Adsense]
Posted by chris.whiteley on May 28, 2008

A few things have happened in the last week that have made me change my opinions, and also change some decisions I have made.
Yesterday I watched the latest installment of the Indiana Jones series, and it got me thinking about George Lucas and how he seems to milk every project he does for all it’s worth. For good and for bad. Which led to me thinking about LoA and how I haven’t nearly milked it for all it is worth.
So I am getting back on the Living on Adsense wagon.
Of course I still hate Adsense. But I will continue to blog about what it is like to try and make money online and share my odd experiences. There will be a few changes though. I do not plan on heavily promoting this blog, I am merely keeping this blog up and running for the you: the people that have been with me for the last 4 months. Right now it’s like a pretty wicked party, and if more people show up…that’s cool, and if they don’t that’s cool too.
I know that I said that I would continue my adventures in the new blog: Dork and Beans, but I think this blog is a better avenue for my MMO adventures.
So this just a short update, and I should be back on the classic LoA adventures pretty quick
Google Adsense Can Suck Out the Will to Live…
Posted by chris.whiteley on May 21, 2008
First off I would like to say that I am soooooooooo sorry to everyone for leaving the last post on a scary health issue, and then disappearing for a long time.
I have no excuse. I just have been unable to manage my time with my new job.
Anyways, as yo can tell, over the past few posts I have been toyong with the notion of no longer writing about my Adsense journey. They say: write about what you are passionate about. I am no longer passionate about Google Adsense.
But not to worry, you can still read about my crazy adventures, just in a new format. I have started a new blog. This new blog will still have my awesome stories, musings about MMO’ing and IM’ing, and also other things that happen in life, or things that piss me off.
But this time I have added a twist.
I have 6 other friends that will be writing on this blog as well. So if you get tired of me you can always read the other guys’ posts. I figure this way, the blog should always be chock full of great stories and posts. It’s not too full now, but as soon as I teach the other guys about blogging it should be non stop legendary blogging.
So head to my new blog Dork and Beans, read my first post, which is about Google Adsense…and Britney Spears. Don’t forget to join the new RSS feed! Oh and leave a few comments to let me know you are still there! Don’t mind the mess I am still working on the theme and adding all the plugins and widgets!
Thanks for keeping with me guys!
Discover Your Blogging Business Model
Posted by Oliver on May 16, 2008
One way to discover an ideal model for your blogging web site is to look at the sites that have successfully captured a blogging audience already to determine if you can appropriate some of their strategies to help realize your vision.
Whether you are starting up a new web site aimed at bloggers or whether you are looking to make your existing blogging site more distinctive. Many people agree that the web sites that do the best in today’s market are the sites that have the most personality. If you can fill a unique need in a way that no other
web site does, you will need to offer something that no other site is currently offering.
Every great blogging web site starts with a great idea, a blogging audience already to determine if you canappropriate some of their strategies to help realize your vision. Of course, you will also need to add a uniqueflair to your project in order to stand apart from your competition. You will need to draft a smart and realistic marketing plan in order to draw readers to your site. The fiercely individual surfers who are bloggers are a demographic that responds especially strongly to personality, you will need to offer something that no other site is currently offering, or you will need to do the same thing that an already popular site does but in a more impressive or valuable way. but finding your place in the blogosphere is the place to begin.
Because there are so many blogs and web sites about blogs on the internet, it can be tough to distinguish your blogging web site from all of the others. Whether you are starting up a new web site aimed at bloggers or whether you are looking to make your existing blogging site more distinctive, the key to building and
maintaining a site that will capture the interest and attention of the blogging community is finding your
niche. If you can fill a unique need in a way that no other web site does, you’ll be able to build a lastingreadership among web surfers. Once you have discovered a niche, you will still have a lot to do, but
finding your place in the blogosphere is the place to begin.
Adsense and the Surfer
Posted by Oliver on May 13, 2008
AdSense is an really easy program to grasp: it’s a great form of an advertising bringing a lot of benefits to every Surfer in the chain. And of course, seeing the results it can have on a business (and a publisher) people encourage this form of publicity.
For the searching audience this is probably the most straightforward model available, because they can be directed to a lot of new sites they wouldn’t have otherwise found. Needless to say, if you have an AdSense banner on your site, and a big number of visitors you’ll know it offers a great financial benefit.
But why does it work for the people clicking the links, as opposed to a standard approach?
It is aided by today’s society. With bloggers and information based articles on the internet, people may be encouraged to complete purchases, which adsense can provide links to relevant suppliers whilst also benefiting the publisher.
And the good thing about this is that it works for site visitors as well. In fact Google realized that by pleasing the people who are looking for something, and directing them to what they need faster, everybody wins.
It is because of this that a lot of websites promote through AdSense in both content and search. They do it because they ultimately learned that it works for everyone.
If we look in the past, we can realize that this kind of publicity has a powerful impact over the people, particularly in the last few years. When we enter on a web site and we see a graphical banner, our first idea is to cancel it out of our mind, because it’s of no concern to us.
That’s why traditional banner advertising is wrong. It’s precisely because people are becoming clever that they don’t look at a flashy banner because they think they’ll be losing their time with it.
We’ve gotten accustomed to banners that don’t interest us. And we’re accustomed to them having nice graphics. So we naturally associate the two things and think that a banner with nice graphics has nothing to tell us.
But we might look at a text-ad because we’ve grown accustomed to them being targeted at what we’re looking for. Basically these advertisements have marketed themselves into being looked at by any visitor.
This is a typical “no fluff, just stuff” situation. And in the end it means the visitors will see what they’re interested in, not some random cool graphics you throw at them.
As stated above, site visitors adopt this advertising mechanism, because it is efficient in leading them to pages of interest and can offer ton of things they really want to see. Someone coming across an article on adsense was probably looking for shoes or doing research on shoes when they came across the article.
And most importantly for everyone, including visitors, this scheme can only improve as the process gets further refined to make ads more germane to what you’re looking for, not just a couple of keywords on a site.
Nowadays, it is because of AdSense that Internet surfers are looking after more interesting related things from banners, and the companies behind the site (Google and the advertiser) need to have better ideas to display, as expectations have increased a great deal.
So could “Do no evil” actually work in today’s cut throat competitive marketplace? Well, as you can see it can and it does. And you, as a visitor are the one who gets to enjoy this the most. Advertising becomes less of a burden and more of a benefit, and is still a benefit you can choose to ignore.
Less obtrusive banners; banners that you’re actually likely to be interested in and click means you’ll be less annoyed by surfing the web and feel like you as a visitor being offered a relevant service.
Although some may feel reluctant to read articles that are there purely to compel consumers, undoubtedly without this consideration they are useful. Ultimately the adverts mean that you don’t have to go back to your homepage every time you are compelled to complete a purchase.
Its up to you to make money with Adsense.

Interview with Michael Cheney
Posted by Oliver on May 9, 2008
How To Make Money Online (yes, even if you’re a newbie)
Have you noticed how difficult it is to actually get any REAL information about how to make money online?
It’s a nightmare isn’t it? You start off buying up everything you come across - all promising your overnight riches but only to disappoint you and leave you out of pocket. Well it doesn’t have to be like that as Michael Cheney is about to explain in this interview.
Michael Cheney, one of the most-respected names in Internet marketing, has been online since 1995 and is the man behind the 6-Figure launches of AdSense Videos, 11 Days To List Profits and Michael’s Traffic Videos.
After receiving 1489 responses to a survey he put out to his list one big request came back from almost everyone;
“Give us something easy, step-by-step and proven to make money online that anyone can do!”
So that’s what he’s giving you in the new product Start Your Profits Today.
Q. Michael, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with us today.
A. My pleasure - I know a lot of people out there want to get started making money online so it’s my job to get out and spread the word about how easy it is.
Q. So what do you see as being the main hurdles to newbies being able to make money on the internet? What is it that’s stopping them?
A. To be honest with you I think the main thing is information. There is just so much BAD information out there. Scams. Cons. Just bad information that is leading people astray and wasting their time and money. I mean you get onto the Internet and the first thing you see almost is these get-rich-quick schemes. It’s not your fault for seizing these so-called opportunities as they are presented so well. And believe me - I know there are thousands of you out there who have been taken for a ride by things like this. People on my list have been telling me this.
Q. Yes, you ran survey didn’t you to ask your list what they wanted? What sort of questions did you ask them and what did they say?
A. Well I asked how I could most help them. You know - I’ve been online since 1995 and make a lot of money online but I was keen to tap into their BIGGEST challenges and needs. So I asked them what sort of information they wanted to learn. What style of learning they preferred and how they wanted this information to be delivered. I was totally blown away by the responses - I got 1489 people completing the survey!
Q. So what did they say?
A. There some big common themes that kept coming up as I looked at the responses and all the comments. These were that people want something that is STEP BY STEP, something that is AFFORDABALE and something that takes you right FROM BEGINNING and doesn’t leave anything out. You can get really frustrated when you start investing in products that claim to make you money online only to find that leave out a massive piece of the jigsaw. Or they forget to mention that you need to buy X, Y and Z just to make their system work. And that’s where Start Your Profits Today is different.
Running a Business from Home
Posted by Oliver on May 9, 2008
It is only through lack of imagination that a person will find it difficult to find a suitable business from home. The abundance of imagination of a vast majority of individuals is clearly depicted in the number and variety of businesses that are now being carried out successfully from home. To name a medley of business opportunities will include home-based coffee stall, provisions mini-markets, photocopying, barber services and academic tuition centers. All these business undertakings can be run with minimum capital and comfortably operated from home.
One of the types of running a business from home that is yet to catch the imagination of home-based operators is to set up a for adults only coffee stall and snacks centre catering for the needs of special adults only. This requires little space; the front porch of a house can be conveniently converted and designed for the purpose. You need a couple of exclusive tables and comfortable chairs for clients. The main attraction will be foods and drinks that will boost the manly energies of clients.
For this you will require a special coffee premixed with aphrodisiac powder that will turn the person on in the space of half an hour after drinking. Should this effect be experienced after the first drink, you can be sure that the client will be back faster than you can imagine and when words spread around about your specialty, you can expect clients lining up waiting to be serviced in a row. Apart from doing a service to yourself and making good money, you will also be doing a service to adult males who have lost touch with the realities of married sex life. This is a great niche you can undertake when thinking of running a business from home. Gratitude will be experienced all around.
The only thing that may hold you back will be to gain approval from your own family as this business touches on the sensitive issue of sex. Do not let this negative yellow thinking prevent you from proceeding with this plan. Pretence will not take anybody anywhere beneficial. Discuss it openly with your family and drop all the pretences and you will have yourself a good if not excellent business opportunity.
With your aphrodisiac coffee drinks as an opener, you can graduate into other food items such as fast foods like beef burgers, fried spaghetti, roasted or fried chicken (home made), and as most people smoke cigarettes, you can include cigarettes too. Why not?
To be successful in the long run running a business form home, you must always remember that you must maintain the quality of your product. Any drop in quality will slowly diminish the number of your clients accordingly. Pay careful attention to this aspect. Maintain excellent services and also attempt to upgrade the quality of your products as well as your customer relations and customer services. This may sound trivial to amateurs but believe me, there is nothing that will drive customers away from your stall faster than bad customer relations and bad customer services. Try as far as possible to attend to your customers personally because assistants would not care a dime about customer services as long as they are paid wages. So there is no alternative but for you to do it yourself. Maybe your family can help you in this.
Create Websites with Site Rubix in Minutes
Posted by Oliver on May 8, 2008
One of the hardest aspects of Internet marketing is being able to deliver your offer effectively on your own website. I know this because it took me a very long time to learn how to build my own site. I knew that having my own site would give me much more control over my online promotions(not to mention get me a lot more traffic), so there was never any question whether or not to build a site.
Building my first site was a headache. I had to download multiple programs, learn how to use them first, then learn how to build a fully optimized page. At WealthyAffiliate I learned a lot about building websites, how to optimize them, and how to lay things out so that my visitors would make purchases, but building a site is no easy task.
I’m writing you to let you know that Kyle and Carson just released a brand new website building tool called “Site Rubix”, and what a great tool it is! There is NO way that you can make a bad looking webpage because the system just won’t allow you to. You can drag and drop, add images, video, text, choose from an array of templates, and publish your site to your own domain with the click of a button.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that there is NOTHING out there like this. I’m sure that you are always on the lookout for an easier way to build your websites so you should definitely take a look at Site Rubix.

Easy Steps to Online Success
Posted by Oliver on May 5, 2008
We are going to discuss the 5 main steps to online marketing success. If you can follow these steps, you will become successful online. I use these techniques and they are also used by several other successful Internet marketers who pull in thousands a day. .
1. Set your initial goal.
———————————————
Whether you want to generate $100 per day or $1000 per day, the first step is to set a goal for yourself. Often times you will find it most effective to set short term and long term goals. This will allow you to obtain small successes while still recognizing the big picture as to where you want to go. Those who become successful within Internet Marketing, or any business, have set goals and persevere until they achieve these goals.
2. Research and Select a Niche Product to Promote.
———————————————
Would you buy a car without researching it before hand? Probably not. Do your research prior to selecting a niche to promote. Often time’s people get way over their heads before they have a solid understanding of how they are going to make money within a niche.
We highly suggest researching industries, products, competitors, advertising costs, and overall opportunities prior to commencing any advertising campaign. You can research markets using the following guidelines:
3. Find Profitable Keywords
———————————————
You will need to research keywords and the average CPC over an industry before you begin promoting it. Some industries have thousands of keywords, while some are so specific that only have a handful of keywords. A smaller industry can convert just as well as a large one, so don’t be fooled by industries with keywords and low traffic.
4. Find High ROI Affiliate Programs.
———————————————
The last research step is to find suitable affiliates merchants within the industry that you want to promote. There are many affiliate networks that have thousands of affiliate programs across different industries. These include:
-CJ.com (Commission Junction)
-Linkshare.com
-ClickBank.com
If you are promoting products through a PPC engine such as Google Adwords or Yahoo! Marketing, you will need to make sure that the affiliate program will pay high enough to make it profitable. You typically want to stick to programs that pay over $15/commission. Alternately you can join a program like WealthyAffiliate.com and use their recommendations on products that they have tested.
5. Start an Advertising Campaign
———————————————
Once you find a product that you want to sell, you’ll want to create an Advertising program for it. We suggest promoting the product using Google Adwords or Yahoo! Marketing as these are the highest converting PPC engines available.
The following are 2 resources that we highly recommend. These resources focus on teaching you how to create successful advertising campaigns:
For Help, or personal coaching on creating your advertising campaigns we highly suggest the two following resources:

I personally am a member at Wealthy Affiliate and I would not have experienced the same amount of success without the support of Kyle & Carson, the resources they provide, or the assistance that many of the fellow members at Wealthy Affiliate have given me.
Take the Leap
———————————————
Once you have accomplishing the previous 5 steps, it is up to you to take the leap.
