Internet marketing Success Favors Those Who Finish

A familiar challenge with individuals who have attempted and failed at web marketing is that they keep on jumping ship, from 1 product to another, from 1 tactic to another. One week it is PPC, the following it is article marketing. One month it is list building, the following it is social media. You’ve committed to do the 30 Day Challenge – again – and then another “guru” launches another “must have” strategy. This is the most familiar challenge I come across as an internet marketing coach.

The whole thing shifts so quickly in the work of web marketing it is challenging to keep up and even harder to remain focussed for a long enough time to complete the things you begin.

Can Your Local Business Survive Without the Internet?: A Local Business Owner’s Guide to Internet Marketing

However, if you do not acquire the habit of finishing what you begin you are going to be perpetually frustrated and that IM lifestyle you so crave will forever remain elusive.

Chances are, if you have been around the web marketing block a number of times, you will have already developed the impression that you aren’t skilled at finishing things. And right there is a great place to begin. You need to develop a success mindset.

The simplest way to change the beliefs you have in relation to yourself is to modify the truth about you. And that is not as tricky as it might appear. You just need to notice more and pay closer attention to that which supports you.

To modify your perception about being a weak finisher you need to begin noticing where you really do complete projects and begin to put together a track record of the tasks you do finish.

Buy a notebook and put the date and “Things I’ve Completed” at the beginning of the page. Then, as you go through the day record all the things you have finished, both for work and personal life. Fill your list with little things in the beginning, as many as possible, so you set yourself up to succeed. E.g., five items on your list could be:

- finished key word research for “web marketing coach” phrase

- uploaded a blog post to my main site

- wrote an item to send to ezine articles

- cleaned out 1 drawer in bed room

- read one chapter of my book

At the end of every day read your list to yourself and record your success. You’ll learn that the more you notice the things you complete, the more confident you’ll grow to be that you actually are a finisher. Then, 1 day, you will become aware of that the tiny steps have become a substantial finished project and your idea of yourself as someone who begins things but rarely completes them has been replaced.
